Graduate Scheme

Kick start your career with FE

In today’s fast-moving, global environment FE is committed to creating awareness/opportunities for students, undergraduates and graduates to hone skills, behaviours and knowledge which allow them to become tomorrow’s decision makers.

The company offers a variety of careers for individuals with a diverse range of interests from fund analysis, research, business analysis, and journalism, project management to software design, sales, IT security, marketing and client relationship management.

For the successful graduates who accept a 2-year placement with FE, we will provide them with the necessary insight, knowledge and skills to equip them to work effectively not only for FE but for any fast moving, innovative, highly technical organisation.  The company will ensure that not only is the work interesting, but that the team have a lot of fun along the way.

“It was my first job from leaving university and I felt both protected and supported.  Managers ensured that I was kept busy, the targets levied were challenging but not too harsh and I think it was the perfect environment for a fresh graduate to find themselves in”.

FE is a global company that has managed to retain the community feeling of a smaller business. The aim of our Graduate Scheme is to enable candidates to experience each area of this community and encourage a strong, well-rounded knowledge of all aspects of FE by the end of the two years.

The structure of our scheme is such that each graduate will be able to build up the necessary skills for a lasting career within a variety of sectors, as well as establishing an idea of the direction they would like to move in – this flexibility is afforded in the final secondment.

“I like that everyone is friendly and there are a lot of people my age. People enjoy their jobs and are always willing to help.  There is always a lot of laughter in the office and it is a great environment to work in.”

“I love the work but a large portion is about the people I work with, the degree of freedom I am given and the experience and knowledge I have gained during my time with the company.”

“Whilst I see FE as a big company it still has a small company feel to it where one feels they can genuinely make a difference and be granted access to senior stakeholders like the Managing Director, which is very special.”

“I have really enjoyed my time with FE, the people are friendly, the work is challenging as it does not just focus on one aspect but has allowed me to really develop and ensure that I am both learning and applying a lot of technical knowledge.”

“I have no regrets about the time I have spent with FE.  From the outset I wanted a role that offered challenges, diversity and kept me busy and this is exactly what FE has delivered and what I have learnt from my time with FE has positioned me very well to continue my career.”

“When I started with FE I did not know anything about funds or investments (I had undertaken a history degree) and therefore I did not know what to expect.  I now feel that I have learnt a lot about investments and my time with FE has given me the direction in which I now want to take my career.”

Socialising at FE

Dress up, have a good time and socialise

“Culturally FE is a company that employs people who are hardworking and very social; there is a good mixture of staff in terms of age and skillset and it is a place where you not only have good work colleagues but you make good friendships.  There is a balance between the work and social aspects that facilitates high levels of work performance.”

FE has two main social events for all UK staff in the summer and in winter.

  • The winter one, naturally, is our Christmas party. This has been held in a variety of Central London locations including boats on the Thames and the London Film Museum.
  • Our summer event has been held at Sandown Park Racecourse for over 10 years. This sees staff put into teams with people they don’t ordinarily get the opportunity to work with, and the aim is to place bets in order to raise money for charity. The team who raises the most for charity gets a prize. It’s a great opportunity to dress up, socialise with different departments from FE and have a good time for a good cause!

As well as these big annual events, FE also holds individual team building days for the various departments. These include days at Go Ape and Center Parcs.

In our Chennai office, we give 8 employees the chance to go to the Indian Premier League matches taking place in Chennai.

FE in the Community

Giving back is very important to FE and is a common theme through almost everything we do, whether it be selling our old office furniture or running and baking for charity.

All of FE's offices embrace the opportunity to raise money for a variety of charities. Each office in London, Woking and Chennai has a committee set up to allocate a set amount of money per quarter to a charity of their choice. The aim of this is to support different charities local to the individual offices. We are also starting to look at the possibility of giving FE staff’s time as well.

Our Sydney office will be supporting the Tour De Cure Cancer charity in August at the following musical event: http://www.moshtix.com.au

Our UK offices love any excuse to bake, and in the last year alone have held four bake sales in aid of:

  • Macmillan Coffee Morning
  • Red Nose Day
  • Children in Need
  • Cancer Research UK.

We also had 12 members of staff running in the British 10k held in London on July 12th. These events are often organised by the staff themselves, highlighting the fact that this ethos runs deep within the nature of FE.
